I Bet $1,200 I’ll Lose 141 Pounds in One Year | Max Level Life

I Bet $1,200 That I’ll Lose 141 Pounds in One Year

I just put $1,200 of my own money on the line. If I lose 141 pounds by October 2027, I get paid. If I don’t, the money’s gone.

Why I bet on myself

I’ve started this journey before. Last time, nothing was on the line but my health, and that wasn’t enough. That’s tough to admit, but it’s the truth.

I’m just like everyone else: I hate losing money more than I like winning it. So this time I made sure there’s real skin in the game. Every month I’m behind, that $1,200 gets harder to win back.

How HealthyWage works

You pick three things: how much weight you’ll lose, how long you have to lose it, and how much money you’re willing to bet. Hit your goal and you get paid. Miss it and you lose what you put in.

My bet:

  • Wager: $100 a month for 12 months ($1,200 total)

  • Goal: 357.0 lbs down to 216 lbs (141 pounds)

  • Payout if I win: $2,571

How the payout works

If you’ve ever placed a sports bet, this will make sense. Put $10 down at -105 odds and the book promises a payout of $19.52. That includes your original $10 back plus $9.52 in winnings.

HealthyWage works the same way. My $2,571 payout is my $1,200 back plus $1,371 on top.

Why I didn’t go with DietBet

DietBet was my first choice. Then I checked the reviews. As of October 22, 2026, DietBet has a 2.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot, and many of the complaints are about people not getting paid. When you’re putting up $1,200, that’s a big red flag.

HealthyWage sits at 3.9. Not perfect, but a lot better. Whatever you pick, read the reviews before you hand anyone your money.

The weigh-in lesson: 7 pounds in less than 24 hoursThe weigh-in lesson: 7 pounds in less than 24 hours

This was the biggest surprise of the whole process.

  • That morning, for my Month 0 video: 350.8 lbs

  • That night, for my official HealthyWage weigh-in: 357.0 lbs

  • The next morning: 350.0 lbs

I gained 6.2 pounds during the day and lost it all overnight, plus another 0.8.

Take that lesson and do with it what you will. 😉

For everyday tracking, though, the rule is simple: control every variable you can.

  • Weigh in at the same time every day. Morning is best.

  • Wear the same thing every time, or nothing at all.

  • If you weigh in at the gym, note what you’re wearing and match it next time.

Is 12 pounds a month safe?

Losing 141 pounds in a year averages out to about 12 pounds a month, or about 2.7 pounds a week. That’s aggressive.

The common guideline is 1–2 pounds a week. Another rule of thumb says 0.5–1% of your body weight per week, which for me is about 1.8–3.6 pounds. My pace sits inside that second range.

Here’s my promise: health comes first. If this pace ever causes problems, I’ll slow down, money or not. There’s no amount of money that can buy your health.

Where the winnings go: Lose to Cruise

I’ve never been on a cruise. When I win, that payout is going toward my first one, sailing in late 2027 or early 2028. Every time I’m tempted to skip a workout, I’ll picture that ship.

Giving back

I also want this challenge to give back to something bigger than me. I don’t have all the details yet, but stay tuned.
